Cao tốc Vân Phong - Nha Trang khánh thành thúc đẩy tăng trưởng kinh tế Nam Trung Bộ, cải thiện kết nối hạ tầng.
On April 19th, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc attended the inauguration ceremony of the Van Phong - Nha Trang expressway segment. This segment forms an integral component of the North-South Expressway Project (Eastern Route), Phase 2021-2025. The project traverses four administrative districts within Khanh Hoa province: Van Ninh district, Ninh Hoa town, Khanh Vinh district, and Dien Khanh district.
The project’s commencement point (Km285+000) links to the southern access road of the Co Ma tunnel in Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province. Its terminus (Km368+350) connects to the starting point of the Nha Trang-Cam Lam segment, under the auspices of the North-South Expressway Project (Eastern Route), Phase 2017-2020, situated in Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province.
Spanning a total length of 83.35 kilometers, the project impacts the aforementioned four districts. The aggregate capital expenditure is VND 11.808 trillion. The Minister of Transport (currently the Minister of Construction) serves as the investment decision-maker, with Project Management Unit 7 acting as the project owner.
To achieve project completion ahead of schedule (approximately eight months), construction units maximized resource allocation across financial, personnel, and equipment domains. Material procurement was proactively addressed from the outset, deploying over 2,500 personnel and 1,200 equipment units at peak activity – representing a 1.5x increase relative to initial requirements – to facilitate simultaneous execution across various project components.
The project incrementally completes the planned expressway system, fostering inter-regional connectivity and catalyzing economic growth for key economic zones and local regions. Reduced travel times between Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa are anticipated, fostering socio-economic advancement within these localities.
Post-commissioning, this segment is expected to mitigate traffic congestion and reduce traffic accidents, particularly in densely populated areas such as Dien Khanh town, Ninh Hoa town, and Van Gia town. Concurrently, it aims to alleviate traffic pressure on National Highway 1A, shorten travel durations, enhance operational safety, and facilitate seamless transit from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa province. The project optimizes investment returns, addressing transportation, freight, tourism, and socio-cultural exchange needs, thereby stimulating economic development and bolstering tourism potential in South Central provinces.
Furthermore, the project expedites disbursement of public investment capital to achieve planned growth targets (exceeding 8% in 2025, with double-digit growth projected for 2026-2030). The project contributes to the attainment of multifaceted objectives encompassing public investment capital disbursement, creating new development spaces, urban areas, industrial parks, service zones for localities, generating employment for citizens and enterprises, augmenting land value-added, streamlining investment promotion, reducing logistics costs, and enhancing the competitiveness of goods and the economy.
